Urja !

Rekindle the flame within
20 Sep - 23 Sep, 2018

Urja is a 3 night - 4 day program for professionals/entrepreneurs to explore the nature of their relationship to work and to find new directions for work and careers. The program would be led by Career consultants from Kavyata and would be conducted at Faraway Renz.

Getting away from the pressing demands of whatever it is you are doing and investing in yourself is the first step towards rewriting your personal and professional narratives. Congratulations to you for contemplating this step! The quiet and scenic setting, the connection to nature and the gentle urging of our experienced facilitators will help you re-fresh, re-view and re-organize your thoughts, feelings and ideas about work and careers.

Perspective

The past two decades have brought a tremendous surge in opportunities and palpable socio-cultural changes. Against this promising backdrop, it has become possible for many to achieve success they had set out to get - often earlier than expected. Some have experienced being high-achievers early on and for them, successes have become routine. For some others, successes have helped to keep at bay, unexplored wishes, compromised dreams and fatigue (mental, emotional and physical).

For most however, there is a growing restlessness and a gnawing thought - what next? How much longer can this go on?

Our work with individuals and groups around growth and change, suggests that for the thinking individual, achieving professional and financial success is only a threshold. There is often a latent and unexpressed desire to make a change and express oneself more fully and vibrantly through one’s work.

Who is it for

The program is targetted at professionals, men and women with at least 10 years of work experience in corporate, government, development sector, academia, own enterprises seeking qualitative addition to self and work. You may be feeling

● ‘Flat’/ unexcited about your work

● Unhappy that your talents are not being expressed in the work you do

● Excited visualising a different role/work you wish to do, but unsure and anxious around how to take the next step

● Numb and unable to articulate your aspirations for yourself - be these professional or personal

In sum, you are experiencing doubts and have questions around growth, change, meaning and your dream of work.

Main premise

At Kavyata, we see work as an expression of oneself. In the words of J. Krishnamurti, eminent philosopher and thinker, “If you find out what it is you love to do and give your whole life to it, then there is no contradiction, and in that state, your being is your doing.” Hence, our approach centres around self-discovery and expansion of the possibilities of the self, in order to transform and enrich one’s work and career.

We also see that in today’s landscape and even more in the future, work and careers will be driven by lifelong learning and an expression of one’s potential in varied forms - therefore getting in touch with one’s multiple potentials, learning from diverse experiences and using these to craft a unique personal and professional narrative, will be important.

Some of the significant influences on our approach include Martin Seligman (Strengths based psychology), Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (Flow), Simon Sinek (Start with Why), Linda Rosetti (Women and Transition) and Carol Dweck (Growth Mindset). We also draw upon Eastern traditions of Yoga, particularly that of ‘sankalpa’ - listening to one’s heartfelt desires and using the power of heartfelt intention.

Objectives

● To develop a bird's eye view of one’s professional journey so far

● To examine the nature of one’s relationship with work

● To explore one’s role taking behaviour and its connection to work and life choices

● To explore and identify unused potentials within oneself
